Implant Removal
Two years ago I had 6 0g 1″ silicone rings implanted in my arms, 3 in each, by a guy named Howie (who I DO NOT recommend, he is a hack despite his reputation!). Over the last two years they’ve slowly but surely started to cause me problems (not Howies fault, this can happen with implants, it’s one of the many risk). Things like shooting pain, restricted blood flow to my hand when in various positions, etc…. So after lots of consideration I decided to have them removed 2 months ago, which is when I set the appointment up for today, April 2nd.
My doctor happens to be one of the few cool doctors out there that doesn’t judge and just worries about health and well being vs his own beliefs, a rare quality among humans in general. So he agreed they needed to come out and was willing to do it for me. The plan was to remove the one that was embedding, and then get as many out as we could before time ran up, he’s got other appointments obviously. We ended up getting all 3 out of my right arm and saving the other arm for May 28th.
Now Ashlan and I hadn’t thought much about getting footage of the removal, just maybe a few pictures, but we weren’t sure if the doc would be ok with pictures so we didn’t bring a camera. Once there though he told us it was 100% fine to bring a camera and even video tape the procedure, he didn’t care, which was awesome. So spur of the moment we decided to use my new phone to tape it and snap some pics. Which sort of backfired…
The phone is new and I’ve never messed with recording video on it before, only mediocre pictures, but it was all we had. Turns out it takes crap video, and has no flash on the camera to begin with. It’s a new phone, but for some reason the people at LG didn’t think the Rumor needed a flash. Anyways, all this added up to bad pictures, only these few where usable. The bright light the doctor needed on the area caused most of the problem, just creating a white area on the pictures and the video.
So for this arm I don’t have much to show on the site, but the next arm is going to be a different story! Ashlan and I are going prepared, some how, lol…
The procedure didn’t hurt a bit, Marcaine is great stuff. Right now they are starting to bruise up pretty good, which is to be expected. But all in all it went smoothly.
The difference in the two arms is crazy to look at now, I’ve become so use to seeing lumps in my arms. But I can’t wait to finally be able to rest my weight on the area, which is a common area to do so. I’ve missed it.
This isn’t it for implants, but from now on I have a rule: No implants that I cannot remove my self. I’ll be experimenting with small teflon implants very soon. I already have the material on hand to carve and work with. I’ll post pictures of course.
I do want to mention one thing on here, please don’t ask me to do implants on you. Not only is it illegal for me to do so, but I am not an expert, and I don’t claim to be. I know enough that I feel safe working on my self, and I’m willing to take the risk. So no, it’s not happening.
Anyways, I’m going to clean my wounds now…
