Slacking online, busy in reality…

Been meaning to update…I’ve been super busy on my truck this week. I installed a solenoid and switch in my truck on the driver side (will do passenger side soon), shaved the door handles on both sides, shaved the plastic cap on the tailgate (the bolt holes that where left over), and removed all side molding and badges. I also installed my new headlights that Salvador Olazaba hooked me up with. They are stock headlights that where opened and painted white inside instead of the black rim it once had. The now white corners still glow amber when on, awesomeness…

The truck is going to stay primered in those spots until I finish the tailgate, then my friend James Pecor is going to repaint them white. My grille is still off too because I’m still working like a slave to finish it. It’s taking only about 100 hours more than I thought it would, lol, but I love how it’s coming out. I’m going to get James to paint it too. This week I’m taking the nerf bars off, so if you want them hit me up, I’ll let them go cheap. Then I’m going to paint the mirrors to match, or shave them, still unsure.

Anyways, enough rambling about my truck, on to ink! I tattooed my friend Dustin’s calf with a skull-n-crossbones guitar. It’s the same guitar he owns, but he wanted it to have a skull on the body. His brother Jayce (creator of Woogylar) sent me a rough sketch of the idea and I took it from there. He was beyond stoked, and according to everyone that has seen it in person these pictures don’t do it justice. Next we’ll do a full background behind it of whatever the fuck I end up drawing on him, lol. I love tattooing!

Session two on Drews Lion

I hit Drew’s lion again Sunday for a few hours. We had already done the crown, which is not done yet, and the lettering so we finished the face. It’s a cover up using white ink on any areas that show, will take another session on the crown and white ink to complete it.

After that we’re going to do a background and the inside of the arm as well to complete a half sleeve. We’ll leave it open to turn it into a full sleeve in the future.

Just included the bloody photo because I thought it looked funny, like he had just eaten.

Dali Piece, Session 3

I tortured Blake some more this week and did session number three on the Dali inspired tattoo that I freehanded. He took it great as always. Did most of the center of the clock, nothing on the rim of it yet, and more in the background. Still not finished of course, and have at least two sessions to go.

First picture is healed, before we started session three.

Session Two on Dali Melting Clock

I wanted to avoid any Easter festivities I could, and Blake was free for the day, so I came in and opened the shop up despite the completely made up holiday and worked on the Dali style piece again. This tattoo is really fun to work on we worked for about 3 hours today, I guess, didn’t really keep time, maybe 4. I added black into the mix this time because I didn’t think it healed out dark enough, then went all around the clock and the other side.

Didn’t do anything to the clock yet, that will probably be next session, although I’m not done with the background yet either. I’m not sure he knew I was gonna do a 20 hour tattoo on him, but he’s down either way, lol. Hopefully when this is done we’ll be planning on the other side, and then I have a sick idea for the whole chest, but I won’t post that here because fuck you. :)

Ooh…Barracuda…

An old friend of my sisters came by with a drawing from a good friend of his, Tom Ledbetter, of a barracuda whirl pooling around a small pirate ship. He wanted it just like it looked on paper, so thats what I did, and I think it turned out awesome. This is actually session number 2, I didn’t get pics of session one. So the fish is healed in this pic. I’ll post healed photos in a couple of weeks when he stops back by.

Healed Half Sleeve Pics…

Snapped some pics of Anthony’s healed half sleeve. I really do need to learn how to take a fucking picture, but heres the crap shots I managed to take for you to filter through. Seriously how do I stop getting glares? I’m gonna actually read one of these photography books I have…

Soon we’re gonna start on his full back piece, which is gonna be fun for me because I get to use a 25 mag!

More tattoos I’ve Done Lately…

img_0191Here are some more images I had laying around of tattoos I’ve done lately. The pink skull turned out pretty cool for the request I was up against: “I want a feminine skull, but no bows or eyelashes”. She was stoked and I thought was it was cool, win win.

The astronaut was a challenge, I had fun with it. Probably going to do a background around it next. The heart was done in soft tones and like normal I completely suck with a camera and couldn’t capture it without a wicked glare. And the last one is an old school piece I did on my friend Jimmy.

Been too long…

I’ve been slacking big time on this website (and Gee’s 2’s for that matter), but I’m back to it now. It’s been busy as hell in the shop so I just haven’t felt like dealing with this. Here’s a quick update on me and my work…

My ride…

Sold the burb back to the original owner, Tat2Bob, and bought a 2007 Silverado Classic 1500 HD Ext Cab. I love it! Already slapped some 22’s on it with 305/40’s. Had the tail lights painted white to match, red light shines through when I brake, looks awesome. Installed a screen in the dash, fiberglassed and painted the dash bezel white after molding it to fit the screen. Installed pioneer highs and mids, a Kicker L7 12″ sub with a kicker zx750.1 amp, and I haven’t even gotten started yet!

Tattooing pays my bills…

As far as my work, other wise known as life, I’ve been doing crazy black n grey lately. Free handing shit left and right! I’m getting damn good and just drawing shit on and going to town with it. My camera was busted for a bit and I missed out on a few pics I wish I had gotten, but I did grab some awesome stuff. Check out some of this…the one on the ribs is a healed photo.

The fun side of working…

Now this next batch of photos is my current pride and joy of all my work. Blake came to me with a wicked idea of doing a Salvador Dali style melting clock on top of his shoulder with the hands aiming at his daughters birth date (3/19). I love Dali, I have his work hanging in my booth, so I knew this would be a cool piece. Anyways, after a few weeks of sketching ideas out and starring at Dali and others melting clocks I decided I was going to free hand this piece, so thats what I did.

Last Friday he came in and I worked on him my entire shift until close. He was trooper and just sat there and took it (top of the shoulder really hurts). I had this idea to turn his collar bone into a tree limb that reverted back into his skin like veins with the clock melting over all of it. It took about an hour to draw it all on (and I almost punched my self in the face when I outlined it before taking pics of the marker drawing) and over that to outline it. Then it took about 3-4 hours to get the outer limbs done. That was session one, more to come for sure! I’ll keep posting pics as the piece progresses. Here’s what we have done now….

Life’s still ticking away…

Past trucks and working me and Ashlan just celebrated our 5th anniversary! She’s put up with me for 5 years now, that’s crazy! I love her more now if that’s possible!

Also, and I’m not going to say much about this yet, but I’m opening my own shop in November (hopefully). So stay tuned for more info on that as it comes.

That’s it for now…so now everyone that’s been pestering me to update this bitch should be happy! :)

High Roller

I drew this up for a walk-in customer and whipped it out for him. He loved it, and so did I. It was fun to do.

Lots of changes…

Well I finally finished the rib cage piece I’ve been working on. We lost track but I think we’ve got like 12 or 15 hours in it total. It looks amazing in person, I really dig it. Right now it’s the best tattoo I’ve ever done.

I got to see Anthony’s arm all healed up and looking great last night, but I left my camera at work, so pics tomorrow, or tonight of that.

And obviously I’ve changed Modified-Design.com to a IT page only to display my website and graphics in a seperate form from the bloody fucked up pictures I like to post here. It’s better for my potential clients to not see 80 year old woman with nipple rings when they are searching for a web designer.

But that also means I can take this page to a whole different level. Next I’m going to redesign this page (probably something similar to the current Modified-Design.com), and then start posting more often, and hopefully with more art and blood!
